FUNdraising

As believers, we have the honor of giving back to the Lord financially so He can expand His kingdom.

As I continue on in this incredible path that God has laid out for me, I want to tell you about the amazing ways that God is moving in the Arab Gulf and how you can partner with me as I prepare to go there.

There is a pressing need for more workers in the Middle East. The Arabian Gulf is one of the most unreached and unengaged areas in the world, home to 35 unreached people groups with populations over 100,000 people. This means there is no Christian witness, no local church and no one even trying to reach the 7.3 million people in those 35 unengaged people groups.

Millions in the Arab Gulf have yet to hear the good news of Jesus. Beyond that, there are no indigenous, self-governed churches in this entire region. However, we trust God’s Word that “those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand” (Romans 15:21)

It is not surprising that [this Organization] (redacted) has decided to send teams to this part of the world. As our team lives and works in the Arabian Gulf, many Muslims will hear about Jesus for the very first time. This strategic opportunity to serve will help hundreds - perhaps even thousands and tens of thousands – hear the Good News.

God is moving in the Arabian Gulf, and I am eager to be used by the Lord in this w ay.

This unique opportunity to live missionally in a country that so desperately needs to hear the saving grace of Jesus will be a blessing not only for those that we encounter, but also for me. However, one of the challenges of sending missionaries to the Gulf is that it is an expensive place to live. I have a start-up budget of $10,000 and a monthly budget just under $3,000. With your partnership, however, I know that this sum is not insurmountable.

With that in mind, I’d like to invite you to prayerfully consider making a commitment of $50, $150 or even $300 a month for my 6-9 month stay in the Gulf.

If you’d like to join me in this awesome work of God, you can do it one of two ways:

I understand that the current economic climate might make it difficult for you to add any additional, ongoing support to your budget. I know a commitment right now might simply not be possible, but I also know that the opportunities for proclaiming Jesus in the Arab Gulf are incredible. As God leads you in this step of faith, I would be very grateful for your help.

Thank you so much for praying about partnering with me. I am extremely grateful for your interest in this ministry! Please know that you are not only supporting me, but more importantly supporting the Lord’s work.

In Christ,

the blog is public!

I was finally given the okay to make this blog public - which means now I actually have visitors!
If this is the first time you've heard of my trip:  Find out why I am going to the Middle East
If you can think of something you'd like to see on here that isn't, please please email me so I can add it. My email address is at the bottom of the blog.

My fifth letter is going out soon! If you aren't on my mailing list and want to be, let me know.  Hopefully, I will only have to send one more stateside before we leave. We can head to training once our funding is up to 70%  complete.

I'm so glad there is interest in my blog and I'm excited for the future!

Frequently Asked Questions

Masjid Nabawi, Medina
Flikr: Shabbir Siraj

Why the pen name?
It is for security purposes. I will not use this name in conversations or regular life, only written communication.

What will you wear?
Because Bahrain is an ethnically diverse country, there are women wearing a wide variety of dress. I will not need to wear a burkha (full-length cloak), but may choose  to wear a hijab (head-covering only, face showing). I will also wear modern, but conservative clothing.

How long will you be gone?

After the 5 week training in Los Angeles, my team will be in Bahrain for 6 months, at least. We may have the opportunity to stay longer.

When do you leave?

Our team can go to training once we are each at 70% of our fund raising goal. We will fly to Bahrain directly from training.

What is your living situation like?
In respect to local customs and expectations for single women, I will be living alone. The rest of my team won't be far away, though, we will likely live in the same apartment complex.

Who else will be with you?

My team consists of 4 other people: a married couple, and two single guys. We are all in our mid to late twenties.

Will you be working?

Because we are only there for a short time, we cannot get work visas. We will be doing volunteer work in hospitals, schools, or sports camps/teams. This could include teaching English, or coaching youth sports.
